Summer ends

Sadly, summer is on its way out. As a new school year starts, I'm already slightly overwhelmed with all that has to be done in the next couple of days/weeks. I'm moving this Saturday to my own apartment and have yet to get some real packing accomplished. I work full-time right up until the first day of class. I'm arranging several events, a training session, and have to start thinking about buying books, and last minute things for the new apartment.

But all in all, this summer has been great. I've enjoyed exploring Montreal more, meeting tons of new people, and forging new friendships. Not to mention, I started this blog and am surprisingly still using it/not giving up!

Have a great 2010/2011 year everyone!

Newest Painting (x2)

I'm going to start this post off with a disclaimer. When I began this painting, my inspiration was two black and white photographs, one of a woman with a beautiful feathered hat, and the other of a hand holding a light bulb. My idea was to make these two photographs into the same painting but split onto two different canvases. I wanted to make them black and white with an accent of colour. However, once I started adding the dash of colour - red - I started to realize how vampiric/twilightish she looks. I just wanted to let you all know that this wasn't my intention, I've just always been a fan of black, white and red.

Also, the hand didn't turn out quite well - my computer crashed mid painting and I decided to just finish the canvas from memory (forgetting that I could just look at my own hand...). Anyway, enough of my complaints! I'm happy that I finally got around to doing some painting this month!

Rene Magritte Quotes

“We must not fear daylight just because it almost always illuminates a miserable world”

"Life obliges me to do something, so I paint."

"To be a surrealist means barring from your mind all remembrance of what you have seen, and being always on the lookout for what has never been."
