Promoting Redpath

So you may or may not know, but I'm the President of Redpath Museum Club, and therefore fairly involved with the Museum located on the McGill Campus. A couple of weeks back, we got involved with a city-wide program. It involved painting old parking metres (as the individual small ones have been removed from the streets of Montreal, and replaced with larger rectangle boxes) in a way to advertise the institution that you are working with.

We tried to paint the parking metre with different symbols that identify with Redpath Museum and eventually it will be placed outside of the Roddick Gates at the front of the McGill Campus to advertise the museum. You will still be able to put money into the metre, and all proceeds will go to a charity which aims to help the homeless of Montreal.

So some of the symbols we used include the shrunked head, the Egyptian cartouche, an image of the museum itself, the triceratops head (also known as Sara), the salamander (referring to Natural Science exhibits), and a couple of other images. I painted the Egyptian cartouche, yes the hieroglyphs are not correct, but you get the jist of it.

Anyways, it was a fun project and keep an eye out for the metre if you're going by the McGill campus anytime soon!
